What influenced you to join FFA?
My influence to join FFA came from my father. As a 7th grader, I didn't plan on joining my chapter, but with a little push, I was able to excel in this organization. My advisors, peers, and mentors helped encourage me along the way, making sure I was able to gain as much knowledge and skills as possible. With the guidance of these individuals, I have been able to achieve my goals through dedication and commitment. My love for agriculture and leadership was activated by being a participant in various FFA events throughout my journey.
What inspired you to serve as a State Officer?
My inspiration to serve as a state officer came from being invited to perform at reflections during my freshman year. My chapter's state officer was aware of my talent for being on stage and asked me to act for their reflections. Meeting the state officers for the first time and understanding what FFA has to offer its members motivated me to pursue state office. I strive to make an impact on members just like previous officers had done for me.
What are your favorite FFA experiences?
My favorite FFA experiences have been career development events (CDEs) and the National Leadership Series conferences. In CDEs, I was able to develop my knowledge of the floriculture industry and create connections with my teammates. My favorite impact it has had on me is that everywhere I go, I can name at least one plant! In addition, conferences like Connect, I Am, and Mission have connected me with many of my fellow members from around the state and taught me valuable leadership skills.
What are your future plans?
My plans include attending Western Technical College for my general education credits and then transferring to the University of Wisconsin- La Crosse to major in psychology with a minor in neuroscience. After my undergraduate education, I will pursue further education to obtain my master's degree and doctorate in psychology (Psy.D.). My ultimate goal is to become a clinical psychologist.
What is something members should know about you?
Although FFA is my favorite organization, I was involved in many different clubs in high school. I was a part of BSA Scouting, drama, student council, and so much more! I am living proof that anyone can be an active member in FFA while enjoying a variety of different extracurricular activities. Do whatever you find joy in, and you will succeed!
