Agriculture Teacher Testimonials

KRIS BEAVER
Waupun Area School District
  Why do you teach agriculture?
Without agriculture there is nothing. I get to see young people learn, develop and grow into the adults that will lead our industry in the future.

Why would you encourage someone to pursue a career in agricultural education?
Literally, the most rewarding thing I have done in my life. I am making a difference every single day.

What is your favorite part of your job?
The FFA and that every day is a little different. Each year I see new students and new goals to meet.

CIERRA ESSOCK
Hustisford Jr/Sr High School
  Why do you teach agriculture?
I teach agriculture because it is important for our future generations to be educated consumers. Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources are tools we use in our everyday lives.

Why would you encourage someone to pursue a career in agricultural education?
If you have a passion for animals, wildlife, nature, food science, and of course, students, teaching agriculture is a perfect fit. You get to go to work everyday to share your passion and have fun while doing it.

What is your favorite part of your job?
My favorite part of being an ag teacher is seeing the "ah-ha" moment when students can make connections from class to their personal lives. It is fun to see students understand the "why" to some of the things they were already doing.

BAILEY HART
Elkhorn Area High School
  Why do you teach agriculture?
I teach agriculture to inspire future consumers to be educated about what is on their plate and in the world around them.

Why would you encourage someone to pursue a career in agricultural education?
I would encourage someone to pursue a career in agricultural education because it is a job that never gets old or boring. There is something new happening each and every day, and while it can be overwhelming at times, it is usually worth it in the end!

What is your favorite part of your job?
My favorite part about my job is when I am teaching and I see my students faces light up when they finally "get-it". I also love building relationships with my students, and getting to know them on a more personal level!

JASON HOVELL
Holmen School District
  Why do you teach agriculture?
I teach agriculture so graduates may become informed agricultural-consumers who are able to advocate for agriculture, and so that they can be career-ready!

Why would you encourage someone to pursue a career in agricultural education?
Agricultural educators help open doors of opportunities for their students. I mean, how cool is that?!

What is your favorite part of your job?
Seeing students' confidence grow after learning something new or accomplishing a specific goal they have set!

KIRSTEN KONDER

  Why do you teach agriculture?
I teach agriculture because I get to motivate and educate students to learn about the agricultural world around them in a hands on environment.

Why would you encourage someone to pursue a career in agricultural education?

What is your favorite part of your job?
I love that I get to know the community I work in through agricultural businesses and by being the FFA advisor
