State Contest Information      
All interested teams need to attend a regional Forestry CDE qualification event advance to the State FFA Forestry Contest.  All qualification contests will be identical at each site in order to bring parity to qualification for state. Tests will not be identical in terms of questions, however, the mix of questions will be similar.

DATE: State Live Contest - Thursday April 25, 2024

TIME: 7:30-8 Check in
8-8:15 Opening remarks 
8:15 - 8:45 UWSP Fire Crew presentation
8:45 - 8:55 Move to Part I station


LOCATION: UW-Madison Arboretum         BUS DEPARTS from UW Stock Pavilion @ 7:20 a.m.

SUPERINTENDENTS: University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point (LEAF) Steve Schmidt & Jonathon Ismail

THEME (All forestry contests): Wildland Fire: Smokey Bear and Forest Management (LEAF will include a guest speaker on the theme.  There will be several questions related to the theme.

Overview      
The Forestry Career Development Event (CDE) requires students to demonstrate their skills in diagnosing forest disorders, managing forests and forest inventory and applying approved silviculture practices. Participation in the event offers students experience relevant to a career choice in forestry and natural resources.
