Wisconsin FFA Foundation Welcomes Applications for Available SAE Grants
MADISON, Wis. [September 15, 2017] – Applications are now being accepted for the Wisconsin FFA Foundation’s Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) Grant Program. The application can be found at www.wisconsinffa.org and must be postmarked by November 15, 2017, and mailed to the Wisconsin FFA Foundation office.
The Foundation’s SAE Grants are available to Wisconsin FFA members in five categories this year: dairy, grain production, livestock, organic agriculture and start-up. Grain production is a new category, thanks to support from Foundation donors. Applicants must be a current FFA member in grades 7 through 11 during the current, 2017-18 school year.
Through this grant program, Wisconsin FFA members receive financial support for their designated SAE project, anything from starting a new business to increasing a livestock herd size. A student’s SAE is one segment of the state’s triad agricultural education program, which includes classroom and FFA involvement. The SAE program also is known for its mentorship of students by agricultural industry leaders.
“SAE projects give students the valuable hands-on learning that rounds out their classroom instruction and FFA experience,” says John Hromyak, Wisconsin FFA Foundation executive director. “We're honored to support our FFA members with their SAE projects thanks to the generosity of our partners and benefactors from across the state.”
The 2017 SAE Grants are funded by these Foundation donors: Andis Foundation, BlueScope Buildings, Dairy Business Association and Dairy Milk Marketing Cooperative, Equity Cooperative Livestock Sales Association, Foremost Farms USA, Nasco, Organic Valley/CROPP Cooperative, Sartori Company, ST Paper, Viroqua Food Co-op, We Energies and the Wisconsin Corn Growers Association.
