WAAE Seeks Executive Director Candidates

The Wisconsin Association of Agricultural Educators is a professional organization made up of middle school, high school, and post-secondary agriculture teachers.  WAAE is seeking an experienced, task-oriented, high energy Executive Director to provide leadership to fulfill our mission: Dedicated to leading agricultural education professionals in the development of knowledge throughout our ever-evolving global community.
Position Summary
The Executive Director works in partnership with the WAAE Executive Board to provide leadership, vision, organizational direction and strategy for the organization.  The Executive Director will be required to work independently without supervision to develop and implement policies approved by the board. This position is hired by and directly accountable to the Board of Directors through the Board President.
Specific responsibilities include:
  • Overseeing the development, implementation and evaluation of programs and services that support the mission of WAAE. 
  • WAAE Executive Board Meetings:
    • Attend all meetings as directed by the WAAE Board of Directors
    • Assist with agenda preparation, editing / posting minutes of all meetings, and preparing meeting materials.
  • Conducting analysis of finances and trends along with engaging the board in strategic discussions about financial stability and sustainability, including the development of adequate operating reserves.
  • Maintain an accurate financial accounting system to collect and record dues, registration fees and other revenue as well as disperse funds and pay WAAE expenses. 
  • Maintain an investment account and a financial accounting program for the FFA Career Development Event (CDE).
  • Wisconsin FFA Center Board Secretary / Treasurer
    • With assistance of FFA Center Board Chair, prepare agendas.
    • Take and keep true and detailed minutes of all meetings.
    • Oversee the financial accounts of the FFA Center and periodically have accounts reviewed.
  • Professional Development Conference Planning
    • Have knowledge of negotiating conference contracts.
    • Coordinate with all committees making sure delegated responsibilities are fulfilled.
    • Obtain and manage sponsorship for special projects and awards.
    • Oversee conference implementation with assistance from WAAE Board of Directors.
  • Represent the organization by participating in key organizations, speaking in public settings, and coordinating with the Department of Public Instruction and Wisconsin Technical College System on a regular basis.
  • Coordinate advocacy on behalf of WAAE.
  • Manage the WAAE website and other social media.
  • Respond to membership requests and provide information to partners.
  • Practice a spirit of cooperative service at all times.
Education and Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural Education preferred or Degree in Business Administration or equivalent
  • Must reside in the State of Wisconsin
  • Knowledge of agricultural education (secondary and post-secondary) and FFA
  • At least 3 years of experience in meeting planning (preferred)
  • High proficiency with business administration practices
  • High proficiency with Quickbooks
  • Demonstrated high proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications
  • Efficiency in operating a website for multiple purposes. 
Salary and Benefits:
  • Salary Range: $30,000 plus a $10,000 stipend based on experience (considered 0.5 FTE)
  • Reimbursement of approved travel expenses.
    • Public transportation not to exceed the cost of coach airline tickets.
    • Mileage at the IRS per mile rate.
    • Room at single rate.
    • Meals (Not to exceed $45.00 per day)
    • Parking
  • Registration fees and dues for annual WAAE, ACTE,  NAAE conventions and National Policy Seminar and expenses when representing WAAE at these and other meetings, conferences, conventions, seminars, etc.
  • Computer and printer/FAX/scanner; copy machine, phone, office supplies, internet service, cell phone and support services to carry out the business of the WAAE.
  • Section 125 Plan (Flexible spending account plan) not to exceed $2000 annually.
  • Appropriate association memberships based on board approval.
