2016 SAE Grant applications now available from the Wisconsin FFA Foundation
MADISON, Wis. [September 29, 2016] – Applications are now being accepted for the Wisconsin FFA Foundation’s Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) Grant Program. The application can be found at www.wisconsinffa.org and must be postmarked by November 15, 2016, and mailed to the Wisconsin FFA Foundation office.
The Foundation’s SAE Grants are available to Wisconsin FFA members in five categories this year: aquaculture, dairy, livestock, organic agriculture and start-up. Livestock is a new category, thanks to support from Foundation donors. Applicants must be a current FFA member in grades 7 through 11 during the current, 2016-17 school year. Through this grant option, Wisconsin FFA members can receive financial support for their designated SAE project, just one part of the triad of the state’s agricultural education program. The FFA’s SAE program is known for its hands-on learning for students, through mentorship of industry leaders.
“It’s no secret that learning takes place in and out of the classroom,” says Sara Schoenborn, Wisconsin FFA Foundation executive director. “We are honored to work with donors that support and understand the importance of agricultural education in the field. Students with SAE projects are fortunate to have this opportunity available to them, and we also are excited to see what innovative projects Wisconsin FFA is working on this year!”
The 2016 SAE Grants are funded by these generous donors: BlueScope Buildings, Dairy Business Association and Dairy Milk Marketing Cooperative, Equity Cooperative Livestock Sales Association, Foremost Farms USA, Nasco, Organic Valley/CROPP Cooperative, Saputo Cheese USA Inc., Sartori Company, ST Paper, Viroqua Food Co-op, We Energies, Wisconsin Aquaculture Association, and the Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board.
