NAAE Convention

Premier national events of the year for ag teachers. Two conferences in one location - NAAE Convention (specifically for ag teachers) and ACTE VISIONTech Conference (for all CTE teachers). Usually about 25 Wisconsin ag teachers attend.

WAAE provides stipend money to cover early bird registration for members. For board members, there are some additional stipend funds - see stipend policy for more details (link below).

The NAAE Convention is generally held the week following Thanksgiving and rotates to various cities throughout the country.
2019: December 3 - 7, 2019, Anaheim Marriott, Anaheim, California
2020: Nashville, TN, Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center. December 1-5
2021: New Orleans, Hilton New Orleans Riverside Hotel, November 30-December 4
Dec. 4-7, 2019
Anaheim, CA

The Wisconsin delegation to the NAAE Convention utilizes a Google Sheet to coordinate logistics.
Attendance Details and Tips:
  • First Time Attendees - Becky Grabarski created a document of tips that she thought would have been helpful to know for her first time attending. Thank you, Becky! https://docs.google.com/document/d/1KohD6gKOB4hKjPW-wLqjhxcIPb0sp4UidN9gYwphd2s/edit?usp=sharing
  • Websites - Use these to find info and tips about booking your hotel, airfare, etc.
  • Please update the spreadsheet:  https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1w-oQG-rDAjJS4qR7S_EJOs9RG5XwbuvL7uCP8RyMe5w/edit?usp=sharing
    • Cell number - helps to get in touch with each other on-site and with travel planning
    • Flight details - helps others to see what airport we're all flying into, share travel to/from the airport
  • State Dinner:
    • Our group always picks one evening to go to dinner together and WAAE picks up the tab for all WAAE members and their guests. We'll let you know the date, time, restaurant location, and any other pertinent logistics when it gets closer, and then we'll need your RSVP so we can make an accurate restaurant reservation.
  • Stipend details:
    • A few reminders about the stipend procedure
      • Stipend eligibility requires that you attended the entire conference
      • Participants are also expected to present/coordinate a PDC workshop or work a shift in the booth at State FFA Convention/Farm Technology Days or complete a different activity pre-approved by the executive committee. Please fill this in column F on the spreadsheet
      • Expenses turned in to WAAE with proper documentation must be true out-of-pocket expenses and the participant must not be expecting reimbursement by any other entity.
      • The expense report is linked below. Please send me this along with your receipts. You can include expenses that total more than the stipend amount, and I'll simply prepare the check appropriately. For example, if you are owed $335 for the member stipend, you can submit your flight receipt of $550, and then I will prepare your stipend check for $335.
How much are you able to receive? Follow these steps:
      1. Check column D on the spreadsheet
        1. "BOARD" - $6,000/? - Right now we're at 11, which would mean $545 each. There's potential for that to shift from now until the event, but should be pretty close.
          1. "Yes-early bird" in Column C - means your registration already used $335 and you'll be eligible for the rest (estimated $210) after the event, following the instructions in the bullet point above
          2. "NAAE" in Column C - means you are able to access the full stipend (estimated $545), following the instructions in the bullet point above
        2. "MEMBER" - $335 total
          1. "Yes-early bird" in Column C - means your registration already used $335, so the only thing left to do is attend the event
          2. "NAAE" in Column C -  means you are able to access the full $335 stipend, following the instructions in the bullet point above
